This is it! Christmas shopping season is upon us! Have you been watching the Black Friday ads and planning your shopping list? If you have a speech therapist in your life, here are our top 10 picks for the busy SLP (speech language pathologist). Or, if you’re an SLP yourself, comment with your must-have item this Christmas.
If you’ve visited our blog before, you know that we are HUGE fans of this extra-wide laminator. We laminate just about everything we touch so a laminator is must for any SLP. We like this one because the extra-wide slot means fewer munched up sheets (AKA, if it gets sent in crooked, it won’t jam up on one side). Plus, we found that Scotch brand is more reliable than some other brands out there. Buy this Scotch Laminator HERE.
To go with that brand new laminator, you’ll need a paper cutter. If this is starting to sound like If You Give A Moose a Muffin, we’re just getting started! This paper cutter is a favorite because it is sturdy, can cut up to 10 sheets at a time, and is extra sharp. I like the little paper trimmers for crafting at home, but this paper cutter is meant for bigger projects. Swingline has been around forever and you really can’t go wrong with this one. Isn’t this planner gorgeous?! The best part about this planner is each day has space for events, meetings, etc. as well as a to-do list. Check it out:
I’m sure we all know how busy SLPs are, and this planner will help the SLP in your life get organized (or stay organized) in 2018. You can buy this planner HERE.
This is all about the busy SLP here. Dry shampoo is a life saver! Especially if the speech therapist in your life is a mom, dry shampoo will save the day. If you haven’t used dry shampoo, take one from this multipack for yourself! I have to add, save this gift for the speech therapist you’re close with, you don’t want her thinking she smells or anything ;). Batiste dry shampoo is my all-time favorite. I’ve tried other brands and they just aren’t the same. Batiste doesn’t leave white patches or make your hair look matte. Go for the best, buy it HERE.
Ok, this is another life saver. If you’re buying one for a friend, go ahead and buy one for yourself, too. I use this almost on the daily. It’s perfect for when you’re running out the door and don’t have time to iron. This only takes seconds and it is so easy to use: spray it on your wrinkled piece of clothing and give the clothing a good shake. Now it’s not as crisp as what an iron can do, but it’s way faster, easier, and still looks great. I would also recommend the Downy brand (I’ve seen them in the travel section at Target before), but I’m sensitive to scents, which is why I like this Real Simple one, available HERE.
Cold and flu season is upon us. SLPs are way too busy to get sick. No matter where a speech therapist works, there are lots of germs. While you’re at it, maybe pick up some hand sanitizer, too! I really like Zarbee’s Immune Support. The flavor is great and they seem to work really well. Grab a bottle for the perfect stocking stuffer HERE.
Since we’re talking immunity and avoiding getting sick, your SLP needs a water bottle to stay hydrated. We’re big fans of S’well and these S’ip water bottles are so cute! I like the one above with the foxes, but there’s also weiner dogs, bumble bees, lemons, bicycles, bacon and eggs, and whales. These bottles keep water cold all day. This is a great gift for just $25, click HERE to buy. *Update: 12/1/17* I just saw these at Target today if you can’t wait for 2-day shipping.
Every one runs on coffee, including the speech therapist in your life. This one is the perfect size to keep on a desk for a school-based or private practice SLP. Or, for the busy speech therapist just trying to leave on time, this can also live at home for that quick cup on the way out the door. This one is really affordable on Amazon, click HERE.
If you give an SLP a Keurig, she’s going to need a mug. Contigo makes the best travel mugs. They don’t leak and keep your coffee hot for hours (let’s be real, the busy SLP is going to forget her coffee for a few hours, too). I like this charcoal gray with a pop of teal, but there are tons more colors HERE.
This is my top pick for a Christmas gift for the SLP in your life. She can get whatever she wants, maybe a new book to read over Christmas break, a Melissa & Doug puzzle, new shoes for work, or some K-Cups to go with that new Keurig. The possibilities are endless! A gift card takes the guess work out of gift buying. This card and other designs are available HERE.
